Physicist, theoretical cosmologist and PEN award-winning author of A Madman Dreams of Turing Machines and How the Universe Got Its Spots, Janna Levin is Professor of Physics and Astronomy at Barnard College of Columbia University. Her research involves the origin of the universe, the shape of space-time, chaos and black holes. Levin has worked at the University of California-Berkeley, the University of Cambridge, and served as a scientist-in-residence at the Ruskin School of Fine Arts and Drawing in Oxford.
