The Center for Land Use Interpretation is a research organization interested in understanding the nature and extent of human interaction with the earth's surface. Its multidisciplinary approach employs conventional research and information processing methodology as well as nontraditional interpretive tools to stimulate discussion, thought, and general interest in the contemporary landscape. Neither an environmental group nor an industry-affiliated organization, the Center's work integrates the many approaches to land use into a single vision illustrating the common ground in 'land use' debates, emphasizing the multiplicity of points of view regarding the utilization of terrestrial and geographic resources.

Biography

Matt Coolidge is Director of Programming at the Center for Land Use Interpretation, working on exhibitions and projects addressing landscape perception and human-induced changes, using perspectives from geography, installation and conceptual art, tourism, and political economy.
